# 011 Translation goof ups

'poli' in Kannada means sweet chapati - very popular in Karnataka. I chanced upon a sweet meat shop in T Nagar in Chennai with the name 'boli' apparently selling the sweet item. I am sure the shop owner does not know that 'boli' means widow in Kannada. Joke apart, if one is not careful translations can result in serious mistakess

# 010 Translation feature from Google

Wondering what this is all about ?

Well, I tried to use “Translate” feature available in Google site for the following sentences from one of my articles and ended with the above abracadabra!!

Is this what is called “street smart?”

This happened on 9.12.2011 when I was returning after the audit of Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology.

We stopped at the Havanur circle traffic signal.

Goes to show Homo Sapiens are yet to invent machines to match their Brain.

Go to Google and enjoy by trying some of your own stuff!!

# 009 Is this a 'quote' or 'joke' ?

While Reagan was in office we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs.

With Obama in Office, there is no cash, no jobs and no hope   -- CN (quote of the moment)

Pun on passing away of  Apple founder Jobs.
